However, I am getting something else for Mother's day too. Four whole days by myself.
This comes, not actually as a gift, but as a mandatory doctor's order... but I am choosing to have some fun with it and consider it a vacation!
On Thursday I am having Radioactive Iodine treatment for my Graves disease, or hyperthyroidism. After I swallow the radioactive meds, I myself will be radioactive for several days. They said that the dosage is actually really low, but it is safer for children to not be around. No one is supposed to be within three feet of me, but it is safer for the kids to just not be around at all - because really, what are the chances of my kids remembering to stay three feet away for 3-4 days?
The research I did on the internet said I would actually be radioactive enough to set off security alarms in the airport! Fun times. Andy said he would be willing to stay, and even risk the three feet radius, since he worked on planes that he can guarantee had more radiation then my meds have! I laughed, and told him he would be welcome, but someone has to take care of our children.
So, I get Thur-Sun to myself. I keep saying I am going to clean out the closets and get rid of things while they are gone, but if I'm not careful I will spend the entire time on here, or lost in a book.
I'll keep you posted!
Thankfully, I get my family back on Mother's day. I think they will wait til the evening, just to be safe, but by that fourth day, I will be having some major missing pangs going on!
What are your Mother's Day plans? Do tell....

The lengths we have to go to in order to have some free time...
No wonder you are so skinny. You know, I was always upset that I ended up with hypothyroidism instead of hyper....you know, the difference between a hippo or a bean pole? But I'm thinking a fat and sassy hippo beats being radioactive. I won't grouse about that one anymore.
Good luck with your treatment. I know you will enjoy the quiet while missing your guys at the same time. Take care of yourself!
Take care of yourself and make plans to just rest this weekend. Being radioactive comes with its own set of aches and pains. I will be praying for you. :)
I need new clothes for the gym!!!!!! Praying this fixes stuff you didn't even know it could! :)
It's been a really long time since I had three days to myself. I'm not sure I'd know what to do with myself, although reading does sound good.
Enjoy your time to yourself. It is a rare and precious gift. Try not to spend all of it working (we work hard enough 24-7).
As for my Mother's Day, I'm not sure what I'll be doing, but I do know I'll be surrounded by my family, which means good (and loud) times.
Be blessed.
Hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day!
I think it's a neat 'treat' to have your house to yourself in forced isolation a few days. How often do we mommy's get such a thing.
Enjoy it. How nice for God to work it out right at Mother's day!! uninterrupted tub soaks, nose in a book, no one interrupting, just quiet.....
I had a friend "glowing" (as she said) in isolation last week. She had plans to clean her hardwood floors since no one was in the house to track stuff across them immediately. She didn't do it though, just enjoyed the quiet!!
I'll say a prayer that the procedure does what it's supposed to, but also that you are able to use it for good and enjoy the break!! HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!
