My friend Tricia is alway so faithful to post her Thankful Thursday list. She has had plenty of tests and trials, and yet always remembers to take a moment and be thankful.
I was in the mood to complain tonight. I logged on with my rant ready to go. Andy was supposed to be home by now - walking in the door any minute. The kids would already be in bed, so I would have him all to myself. Then, they would wake up in the morning and, joy of joys, Daddy would be there!
Nope, not the way it is going down.
Silly AF wife - haven't I been in long enough to know better? Sigh.
Tonight instead of clicking "new post" right away I skimmed through the new posts of the people I love first. As always, they had a lesson to teach me. As I posted recently, I am so thankful for the internet. God used it to remind me of the things I have to be thankful for.
I suppose rather then complaining that Andy isn't home, I should be thankful that 1) I have him at all, and he is the kind of husband that I am excited to see coming home, rather than dreading. 2) He will most likely be home tomorrow, and we have a long weekend to look forward to.
His delay may be annoying, but it isn't life changing.
I put up the new quotes of the month a few nights ago. The theme of the month is marriage - for many reasons.
Being military I "get" to see many marriages fall apart. On the flip side, I also get to see some fight through really tough times and survive. This has been a rough couple of weeks for me, emotionally, concerning other people's marriages. I use to think that I wanted to be a marriage and family counselor. I am not so sure of that any more.
I have a hard time keeping myself separate from the emotions of the people around me, and I end up hurting for them, almost more then I can take sometimes.
So, this month I am going to talk about marriage a bit. Pray about marriage a lot. And be thankful, immensely thankful, for the husband I have coming home - one day or another.

Thankful Thursday
Do you ever just stop to appreciate the internet? Truly?
Yeah, yeah, I know it has it's downsides.
People buy things they don't need, just because they are readily available - but they did that before the internet was created.
People look at things that are immoral and degrading - but they did that too before the internet was created.
Sometime people use it to say unkind things about others behind their backs, or perhaps even "to their faces"(at least as best they can if their face is a computer screen, but you know what I mean) - but guess what, they did that before the internet was created too.
Sin is not new. I suppose the way it is carried around and displayed occasionally looks new, but sin remains what it is.
But blessings - blessings are up to us to find. There is an un-ending array of ways to bless those around us, or those thousands of miles away. Yes - we could do that before the internet was created too. But sometimes it sure does expedite things.
A message of encouragement can arrive in .05 seconds, rather then 3 weeks, all the way to Africa.
The story of a morning with children which was draining can be shared by an exhausted mother, and commented on by an experienced mother, giving someone the strength to finish the day refreshed and with new ideas.
School curriculum is there to peruse.
Math, Science, and Print-outs of Thanksgiving turkeys with crossword puzzles on their bellies.
The definition of every word, in every language I can imagine is at my fingertips, literally.
All, at the click of a button.
Father's have seen their children born from half way across the world.
My own husband, rather then missing six months of our lives, was only partially removed because he got a written review every single day, and a video conference at least three times a week.
Music from all genre's and languages.
Blessings are up to us to find, and to give.

Thankful Thursday
Today I am thankful for nail polish remover, which takes adhesive out of hair, and extra strong conditioner which repairs the hair after being soaked in "glue" and nail polish remover.
I am so very thankful for a fabulous husband who had patience to slowly pick clumps of glue out, bit by bit, and rinse, and comb, and condition.
I am thankful for sunshine, and spiderwebs that catch the sunshine in the backyard and shimmer like jewels.
I am thankful for sandboxes, and baseballs (and bats) and big tractors that dig in the dirt.
I am thankful for words, both written and spoken.
I am thankful for Facebook. I found an old friend this week, and I am excited to have made a connection with my past.
Most of all, I am thankful for the gift of life. Every morning I wake up, with breath within me, and a heart beating strong. I have been thinking about death a lot lately, and though I am eager to see my Savior, and will not be sorry to leave this sad body behind, I am so glad to have each new day here. I like life!
