Who writes this stuff?

My photo
I try to keep my priorities in order: Jesus, my Andy, our children, everything else. I homeschool our boys, love to read almost all written words and have been challenged by the military life for 18 years. Right now my faulty human body is demanding a lot of attention. One day at a time, learning as much as possible every day and remembering to look for JOY when other things threaten to overwhelm.

My Blog Title Verse

"For the Lord gives wisdom. From His mouth come knowledge and understanding." Proverbs 2:6 NKJV
The Message translation puts it this way "God gives out Wisdom free, is plainspoken in Knowledge and Understanding."

Finally working - perhaps?

There comes a time in your life when you begin to accept that you may not ever get what you want. Over the last month, what I have wanted was the internet. Not just my iPhone, (which was barely working anyway because we live in a hole) but the real internet, plugged into the wall, then plugged into the WiFi, which would then send a signal to my computer so I could sit down and type with all 10 fingers rather than just my thumbs. Internet that works for more than 3 hours at a time. (after the insane hook up issues in the first place!)
I know, it is a lot to ask. Especially here at Ft. Lost in the Woods... I mean Ft. Leonard Wood. But honestly- 3 weeks to get working internet? Halfway through the process one of the technicians said, "this is something you are going to look back on and laugh someday." At that moment I could only grit my teeth, remind myself that every action reflects my Savior, and keep my mouth shut.
However, looking back on it, well, no, I still can't laugh at it. Maybe it takes longer to look back?
One thing I learned though is that I am totally dependent upon the internet. My banking is all done online. My bills are paid online. A large portion of my shopping is done online, or at least the research part of it. My coupons are printed, my shopping list created, and my weekly meal plan looked over - online- before I go to the grocery.
Facebook, well FB I can usually live without, or so I thought. But I realized that there are some people that I only talk to there. I only hear about their lives through FB.
And this. This place right here. Proverbs2six.blogspot.com This is my moment of expression. My chance to just be me. Not mommy. Not military wife. Not someone trying to adopt, or live with sickness, or missing my family, or even a full time seeker of Truth and Faith. Just me. Because I am all of those things. And in this spot I don't have to separate them. I get to express them one at a time, or all at once, or perhaps just throw out pictures that make me happy. This is my spot.

 I missed it!

I have read, and read and read. But nothing online. So, I will try to catch up on the lives of the people I love here in the wide wide world of the web. I will try to share a little of what God has been teaching me in the last month. Most of all, I will revel in the freedom of having my spot returned to me!
                                                                   Blessings,

So, what do you think??

If you are a FB reader or an E-mail subscriber (hi mom!), I don't suppose the changes will even show up, but for anyone who visits me on my actual page, What do you think?

I had a technical difficulty this weekend. The link to the background picture I was using was deleted. Rather then just find another that would sync with the design I already had, I decided to go for something fresh and new. It nearly caused an argument between the hubby and I though. I asked him to help, since he knows me best. "What is the epitome of me? What colors, what style, what theme shouts "Bethany" to the world?"
 He chose books.

Stacks of them. Artistic displays of them. He found tons of interesting, even beautiful shots of them.
Truly, I love books. Adore them even. But that is such a narrow view of me. Surely there is more?!
I ended up kicking him off the project because he never actually reads my blog anyway. How would he know how to design something that he knows nothing about?

After playing with the new Blogger self design application for awhile, I got this. Simple, green, and cheerful. I think that is a better summation of me then "books". Although I must say I do love that first picture up there...
Now I just have to figure out how to have multiple pages. I really want a "home" and an "about me" and a "where the military has taken us" page. But I haven't figured that part out yet. Andy just has to work a few more late nights, (and me NOT have a good book within reach) so I can do some work on that!
After all the work was done, Andy still had to come by and comment. At the top of the page I have blue skies and flowers - blowing where God sends them and working really hard not to stress about where they land (in case you were wondering why I chose dandelions). In the middle is a beautiful stretch of green grass, cool and peaceful. At the bottom is the rich brown soil for it to grow out of. Andy said the dirt needed some worms to stir it up, keep it aerated.
So, here is his contribution to the new design.
Those of you who do not usually link directly to the page, please, drop by and see the new design.
And stay posted - there is more to come, once I figure a little more out~

Music

Just a few musical "notes".... (hahaha)

Andy plays his Ipod in his truck. It is set on "random", but for some reason, every time you start the truck the first song that plays is "Everybody wants to go to Heaven, but Nobody wants to die", by David Crowder. For some reason that I cannot explain, it is really amusing to hear a 2 year old chime in from the back seat "nobody wants to die"

But that wasn't what I got on here to say. I have gotten several comments recently about my blog's music. Mostly that there is too much country... I would apologize, but I am not sorry, so it would be a wasted breath. Besides, there really isn't THAT much country. If it bother's you that much, just hit "refresh" and something different is bound to come up.
Andy added some new music for me last night. Since he does not every update his own blog, he feels the need to be involved in mine on occasion. He has specifically asked that Corey, (and anyone else who is interested) check out The Mexican Scotsman and Group 1 Crew. I can't say that I would have picked them on my own, but Andy has rubbed off on me over the years, so I gave my approval and let him put them on my blog!

Last story. When we were in the truck last Sunday, driving down the road, listening to whatever random Ipod song popped up, I started writing down Canaan's comments. Here are a few.

"The words are too fast".... Rap (don't worry, even the fast words are double checked for cleanliness!)

"They sound like they are on the farm"..... Bluegrass

"Now this is good music".... Rock ("and Roll" according to him, but it is actually more "hard rock" in my opinion, albeit Christian)

So, if you have musical requests for my blog, let me know. I have my Zion and Canaan songs, (check them out, they are pretty amusing) my sisters song, Handel, Bach, Keith Green, Rich Mullins, even some Elvis, and a touch of rap. If I am missing anything, except the Beatles, please, let me know!
