Who writes this stuff?

My photo
I try to keep my priorities in order: Jesus, my Andy, our children, everything else. I homeschool our boys, love to read almost all written words and have been challenged by the military life for 18 years. Right now my faulty human body is demanding a lot of attention. One day at a time, learning as much as possible every day and remembering to look for JOY when other things threaten to overwhelm.

My Blog Title Verse

"For the Lord gives wisdom. From His mouth come knowledge and understanding." Proverbs 2:6 NKJV
The Message translation puts it this way "God gives out Wisdom free, is plainspoken in Knowledge and Understanding."

More birthday

This weekend was birthday weekend. My wonderful, amazing sisters and mom threw me a surprise birthday party, AFTER attending my son's crazy busy sixth birthday party.
I have very few pictures of my party, since it was a surprise, and I wasn't prepared. So, for now, I will give share the pics from Canaan's.
Our theme was military. Since Daddy is deployed, it seemed a good way to include him in the party. Plus, isn't dressing up in camo and pretending to carry a gun pretty much every little boys dream?
My little man, in his Camo. Isn't he precious?
He decided he was a Lt. Col General. (Which isn't just one rank, for any of you non-military people. He put on the pins for all three at the same time!)

And of course, there has to be a picture of me, looking totally stupid...
Even the grandparents got dressed up...

These are Andy's old camo's from his first trip to the desert.
Dad is wearing the top, mom the bottom and I claimed the hat!
Cole's first tattoo.

Facepaint, so they can "blend in" with their surroundings.

We ran an obstacle course in the rain,
Canaan
Noah
Cole
Harrison
Zion

...then hunted for poisonous snakes, saving the world from a deadly infestation.

Of course, after saving the world, the hero's needed medals awarded to them!

Look at those "tough" faces!

The USO performed for the troops.

Aren't we grateful for the USO?
(both the real one, and the fabulous volunteer one at my party!!)

Then it was time to chow down... MRE's, here we come.

Zion and his Poppy had the MRE thing down pat. What a team!

McCoy did not think his looked yummy at all...

This is the pinata, pre destruction. (and some pictures to prove that there were girls at the party too!)

The presents even fit with the theme!

Now for the crowning glory... The amazing cake, made by my friend Mary C.

Don't forget your cookie, an A-10 Flying Tiger, to take home with you!

What neat and creative ideas you had for this party! I am sure Canaan will remember this birthday for a while...or at least until next year!
