Who writes this stuff?

My photo
I try to keep my priorities in order: Jesus, my Andy, our children, everything else. I homeschool our boys, love to read almost all written words and have been challenged by the military life for 18 years. Right now my faulty human body is demanding a lot of attention. One day at a time, learning as much as possible every day and remembering to look for JOY when other things threaten to overwhelm.

My Blog Title Verse

"For the Lord gives wisdom. From His mouth come knowledge and understanding." Proverbs 2:6 NKJV
The Message translation puts it this way "God gives out Wisdom free, is plainspoken in Knowledge and Understanding."

Random blabbing

Just a couple of things...
1. Loose leaf green tea with apricot is delicious when iced. Just thought you would like to know.

2. The sun is 93 million miles away from earth. (can you tell we are studying space this week... )

3. Adoption paperwork is a pain in the patootie. It is really difficult to answer page after page of questions, especially since they don't just want a yes or no answer. For example... If you could change something about yourself, what would it be, and why? or.... What has been your greatest accomplishment to date? or.... Describe what life was like as a teenager. or..... What are the strengths of your marriage?  and it goes on and on and on. (Of course, there was Andy's favorite... Have you ever been arrested for any reason? Oh, how he hated answering that one! Ahh, the joys of foolish teenage decisions!)

Needless to say, I have spent the last few day thinking really deep thoughts about myself. I am pretty confident about what I believe. Jesus is my best friend, savior, and giver of joy. What I believe isn't hard for me to define. But who I am... for some reason that was harder. Defining myself... I just don't think about that too often. I had to describe my personality in one paragraph, then another question asked how I thought others would describe me. Andy laughed at that immediately, but it wasn't hard for me to see how the answers to that question could be two totally different things. Sometimes a person's public persona is totally different than how they see themselves. So now I am curious.... I have already filled out the form and over-nighted it to the people doing the homestudy, so don't worry, it won't be part of my adoption paperwork.... how would you describe me? Do people see me the way I think they do?

On a side note... I found a really great blog that gives updates on Gifty. It is the personal blog of one of the girls that works for Orphan Relief and Rescue, and she has a newer picture, if you care to see. We are still taking it one day at a time, but for now we are still trying to bring her home. If someone with more money, and the ability to move faster steps in, we will let them, but until then, we will follow God one step at a time, and trust him to give us the guidance for the next step when the time comes. Please, keep praying for our little girl.

Wow - God bless you! DH and I talk about adopting and then find 10,000 reasons why right now isn't a good time. It seems like you are well on your way.

As an adopted child myself, the only question on that form should be, "Will you love her with all your heart and do everything in your power to give her a good life?" Just by your willingness to take on a child especially with these medical issues says "YES". I wish you luck.

I would describe you as:
honest, generous, extremely helpful, organized, grounded, spiritual, faithful, a little bit obsessive about details, fun-loving, good sense of humor, disciplined, and just genuinely friendly!
