Monday's are homeschool co-op. The group met at our house this week, so I got to pick what we studied. I decided since it was so cold and wintery, (haha - try mid 70's!) we should study the arctic. We read Welcome to the Ice House by Jane Yolen, and The Little Penguin by A.J. Wood, played with polar bear and penguin and snowflake stickers for "art time" (that is definitely my weakness... I am NOT an artist!) and played outside with our own little piece of an arctic winter...
ICE!
In the south, ice is not found in the usual places (like driveways, sidewalks or ponds).
Instead, it comes in coolers.
Ice by the shovelful.
Ice by the bucketful.
Crushing ice into snow. (notice the bare feet and the abandoned mitten)
Serious business!
(This is the picture of the day, by the way... these three are siblings, and they were so adorable, working together so nicely.)
Our poor, pitiful snowman! (or rather, iceman!)
